Abstract
PURPOSE: To remarkably reduce waveform distortion and to easily obtain an original signal, by the constitution of feedback type for either one of nonlinear preemphasis or nonlinear deemphasis.
CONSTITUTION: A reproduced video signal inputted from an input terminal 13 is inputted to a subtractor 14 and outputted from an output terminal 15 and applied to an HPF16. The signal is applied to the subtractor 14 via a compressor 17 and an attenuator 18 and subtracted from the input signal. Feedback is made from an output of the attenuator 14 to the input to constitute a nonlinear deemphasis. By making the overall characteristics of the HPF, compressor and attenuator equal for nonlinear preemphasis and deemphasis, even if an input waveform as shown in (a) is outputted from an output terminal 6 through a nonlinear preemphasis circuit from an input terminal 1 as the waveform shown in (b), the waveform can completely be restored to the original waveform as shown in (c) at a nonlinear deemphasis output.
