A function generator 126 receiving the engine rotation speed Ne sends out a voltage proportional to the two power of the speed Ne, and the voltage is converted into a clock pulse having a frequency proportional to the two power of the speed Ne by a converter 127 and then sent to the counters 124 and 125. The pulse widths of the engine rotation speed and the turbine rotation speed are counted by the high-frequency clock pulse, the difference in the count values is measured by a differential amplifier 128, and the slip speed is calculated.
