Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform optical measurement for an antigen-antibody reaction with high sensitivity without occurring nonspecific coagulation by using a reagent of which an antibody is sensitized against a latex of which styrene and styrene sulfonic acid salts are polymerized without using an emulsifying agent under the existence of an ultrafine silicic anhydride. CONSTITUTION:Styrene and styrene sulfonic acid salts are copolymerized with a K2S2O8 used as an initiator under the existence of an ultrafine silicic anhydride having 5-50mmu particle size. Thereafter, said reactants are heated in pH value 8-11.5 at about 70 deg.C to obtain a latex having about 0.45mu average particle size. And, for example, an HBs antibody is combined with the latex. Then, said combined antibody is treated with a serum exclusive of an anti-human protein antibody from an antiserum of a guninea pig immunized against the HBs antibody to obtain a latex reagent. Further, after a patient serum contg. an HBs anti-antibody is reacted with the latex reagent, the absorbancy is measured. Thereby, said method can measure up to about 10<-8>g/sec antibody quantities and is highly sensitive as high as 1,000 times conventional cases.
