Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the position of a consumble electrode invariable despite the abrasion of a cylindrical tip and to obtain the good results of welding in a torch for welding, by forming circular conical projecting parts to said tip, and acting welding force thereupon by way of a pressurizing means. CONSTITUTION:A tip retainer 4 is pressed in an X1 direction by a pressurizing means, by which the projecting part of a cylindrical tip 3, the recess 201 of a leading end member 2, and the recess 411 of the retainer 4 are brought into abutment on each other, and the force is acted upon the circular conical projecting parts 302, 302 of the tip 3 in the direction at a right angle to slopes. The tip 3 is pressed in the axial center direction by the component of force in the diametral direction. Since the force acting upon the tip 3 in its diametral direction acts over the entire circumference of both circular conical projecting parts of the tip 3, the tip 3 is contracted centripetally in the radial direction until it abuts on a consumable electrode 16. In accordance with the progression of welding, the through-hole 301 of the tip 3 wears, but since the tip 3 is held pressed in the X1 direction by the retainer 4, the tip 3 moves by just a slight extent in the X1 direction.
