Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the consumption of electric power greatly by connecting a plurality of underwater pump units vertically in series for operating each underwater pump unit in accordance with the water level.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of underwater pump units 1, 2, and 3 are connected vertically in series. Meanwhile, water-level detectors 7, 8, and 9 are positioned respectively at underwater pump units 1, 2, and 3, which are operated on the basis of signals issued from these water-level detectors 7, 8, and 9. This construction permits to operate the minimum number of underwater pump units necessary to obtain a required head, and consequently reduce the consumption of electric power greatly.
