Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a photoelectrolysis device which is so constituted as to faciliate manufacture and generate high photoelectromotive force by suspending multiple pieces of solar battery elements which are made by laminating amorphous silicon into multiple stages and making the top stage light transmittable, in electrolyte.
CONSTITUTION: N type amorphous silicon 8 mixed with PH3 or the like, and intrinsic amorphous silicon (I type) 9 having an active region of ≥10-7 carrier life, ≤1017/cm3 average localized state density in forbidden band and ≥10-3cm2/V.sec carrier mobility are formed on a substrate 7 of a stainless steel foil or the like, whereby the 1st thin film is formed. P type amorphous silicon 10 doped with B2H6 or the like is formed thereon. Thence, N type 11, I type 12 and P type 13 are formed as the 2nd thin films. Further, the 4th stage is formed in a similar manner, after which a tin oxide-indium oxide film 20 is formed. When this is made into flakelike solar battery elements and these elements are suspended in electrolyte, the electrolyte is decomposed by the electromotive-force generated by these.
