Abstract

PURPOSE:To operate the magnets of an antivibration device at a minimum rate of opening and opening time by operating the opening and closing timings of the magnets from the rate of change in the width of a weld zone, the weld point passage signal on the inlet side of a heating furnace, and the traveling length of the strip. CONSTITUTION:It is detected that the weld point has come to a constant point beind the magnets 36 of an antivibration device 34 from the passage signal of a weld point detector 28 installed on the inlet side of a heating furance, and the length measured by a length measuring machine 32 which detects the traveling length of a strip 14. The time from the point of this time until the strip 14 travles up to magnets 36 is operated and is stored in an arithmetic device 30. Next, the time required for movement of the magnets 36 is operated by an arithmetic device 30 from the rate of change in width for one side, allowances taking the deviations of the strip into account, and the moving speeds of the magnets 36. By using this value, the magnets 36 are moved to open by a desired distance from just a constant distance before the weld point arrives at the magnets 36, thereby allowing the strip 14 to pass in the shortest magnet opening time without allowing the weld point to contact the magnets 36. After the passage of the weld point, ordinary antivibration control is resumed by a signal.
