Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the irrversible demagnetizability of the resulting permanent magnet alloy by providing a specific composition consisting of Sm with Ce substituted for part of the Sm and Co with Fe, Cu and ≥1 kinds of IVa or Va group metal substituted for part of the Co.
CONSTITUTION: This permanent magnet alloy has a composition represented by formulaI(where 0.3≤α≤0.7, 0.01≤x≤0.4, 0.02≤y≤0.25, 0.001≤z≤0.15, 6.5≤A ≤8.3, and M is ≥1 kind among Zr, Hf, Ti, Ta and Nb). By substituting Ce for part of Sm in this alloy, the magnetic characteristcs are deteriorated, yet the irreversible demagnetizability is improved, so α is selected from said range in consideration of both the effects.
