Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a titled member of superior electrical, optical, and photoconductive characteristics and use environment characteristics by providing a specific photoconductive amorphous layer on a substrate for electrophotography having a surface of Al2O3 contg. water of crystallization. A photoconductive amorphous layer 103 consisting of an amorphous material contg. H or halogen and consisting basically of Si wherein a layer region contg. O at least in part thereof is provided, the distributions of O in said layer are uniform in the plane approximately parallel with the surface of the substrate 101 and are nonuniform in the thickness direction with more distributions on the surface side 104 opposite from the substrate 101, the content of O of the entire part of the region is 0.05-30atom%, the max. distribution amt. Cmax exists in the surface 104 or near the same and the value thereof is 0.3-67atom% is provided thereon.
