Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the fluctuation in r.p.m. in an air-inlet unit equipped with a regulator valve in its throttle valve bypass, by controlling the air-rate by the first valve at the engine starting and by the second valve, which operates after the first valve closes, at the idling of an engine. CONSTITUTION:As an engine gets warmed up after the start-up, a pulse motor 7 is driven, and the second valve body 16 moves toward the ''closed''. At this time, since the second return spring 18 is stronger than the first return spring 13, a support 17 of the second valve moves a support 12 of the first valve toward the ''closed'', resisting the spring 13, and closes the first valve body 11 as well as a valve seat 9 at the completion of warming-up. When the first valve 4 becomes ''full closed'', the second valve body 16 compresses the second return spring 18 to vary the clearance between the spring and the second valve seat 15, thereby varying the effective area of a bypass 3. Accordingly, this system controls automatically the effective area of the bypass 3 for the entire region of start-up, warming-up, and idling of the engine, which keeps the fluctuation in the engine r.p.m. less.
