CONSTITUTION: Pseudomonas UK113 strain (FERM-P No.5666) belonging to Pseudomonas genus and capable of assimilating D-isomer of a 2-halo acid, is cultured in a medium containing glycol, glycerine, etc. as carbon source, ammonium sulfate, ammonium chloride, etc. as nitrogen source, and salt of potassium, sodium, phosphoric acid, etc. as inorganic salt, pref. at 26W30°C for about 5W48hr under aerobic conditions. The cultivation product can be used as an enzyme source as it is; however, the separated live bacterial cells, treated bacterial cells, as well as crude enzyme and purified enzyme can also be used as the enzyme source.
