Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance stability of silver peroxide, reduce a self-discharge rate, and improve a keeping quality by forming a stabilizer layer on all or a part of the surface of a positive electrode active material made of mainly silver peroxide. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of silver peroxide powder and ethylene tetrafluoride powder is compressed and formed, then its surface is provided with a silver layer to produce a positive electrode material 2. A coating layer 4 of a positive electrode stabilizer is applied on one side of the positive electrode material 2 surface contacting an alkali electrolyte. The stabilizer to be coated contains at least one constituent selected among; cadmium and tellurium, cadmium and tellurium and lead, mercury, thallium, germanium, yttrium, tin, tungsten, lanthanum, rare earth elements, zinc, selenium, and alminum. The stabilizer can be in the form of an oxide, a hydroxide, metal powder, a sulfide, or various bases.
