Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled copolymer excellent in strength, heat resistance, moldability, optical properties, and suitable for video discs, prepared by copolymerizing methyl methacrylate with ethyl acrylate under conditions capable of providing a specified composition and intrinsic viscosity.
CONSTITUTION: In the production of a copolymer by copolymerizing methyl methacrylate with ethyl acrylate, the purpose copolymer for optical information- recording carriers is prepared by carrying out the copolymerization under conditions capable of providing a copolymer satisfying relationshipsI, II and III, wherein X is a percentage of ethyl acrylate in the resulting copolymer and y is an intrinsic viscosity in chloroform at 20°C.
