Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the shock generated at the time of opening a control valve, by a method wherein normally closed control valves are provided in at least some (not one) of intake pipes and the control valve is instantaneously opened to a predetermined valve position exceeding the irregular-combustion range in response to an opening signal of the precedingly opened one of the control valves. CONSTITUTION:When the engine started, a negative pressure is generated in each of the intake pipes 11-13. The negative pressure in the intake pipe 11 is conducted into an actuator 10 through a directional control valve 13 which actuates the control valve 21 through a rod 111 and a lever 31 so that the valve 21 is instantaneously opened to the predetermined valve position exceeding the irregular-combustion range. At this point, however, other actuators 102, 103 are not supplied with the negative pressures because directional control valves 202, 203 are closed. Therefore, a fuel-air mixture is supplied only to a cylinder 191. Then, depressing the accelerator pedal causes a throttle valve 5 to open through a wire 17 and, simultaneously, the control valve 21 is opened through a link rod 6 and the directional control valve 202 is also opened. At this time, therefore, the control valve 22 is instantaneously opened to the predetermined valve position exceeding the irregular-combustion range by the actuator 102.
