Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure flow rate always accurately in accordance with the change in the flow rate over a wide range by driving a heating means by means of the detection output of a heat sensitive element, and measuring the flow rate in correspondence to the driving periods of the heating means. CONSTITUTION:When a heating element 13 is heated, the fluid to be measured flowing in the part of the element 13 during its heating is heated. When this heated fluid passes through the part of a detecting element 19, and a temp. change is caused in the fluid, a detection signal Sc is generated. Normally, this fluid is heated periodically by the pulse signals of a pulse generator 5 but when the period of a time setting signal ST exceeds a prescribed value, the fluid is heated at this period, and the adverse influence of the temp. of heating of the next heating pulse is not produced in the temp. detection of the fluid detected with a temp. sensing and detecting part 15; therefore the measurement of the flow rate with always high accuracy in correspondence to the flow rate is made possible.
