Abstract

PURPOSE: An asphalt pavement mixt. capable of controlling low-frequency disturbance in a viaduct, a freeway, etc. and suppressing wear of a pavement surface, which is prepd. by kneading asphalt with perlite.
CONSTITUTION: An asphalt mixt. is compounded and kneaded with about 20% fine perlite, which gives the following advantages; (1) low-frequency noise due to an automobile running on a pavement is screened by the pore in the perlite. (2) wear of an asphalt pavement surface is suppressed because of higher hardness of an obsidian partion around the perlite pore than that of a crushed stone mixed with the asphalt. (3) a road surface in a cold district is prevented from freezing because the perlite pore transfers no heat. (4) workability in transpartation of the asphalt mixt. is improved because of a lighter wt. even with the same vol.
