Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the title copolymer having an adequate affinity to an org. anion and useful as an extracting agent for metal and a coating material, by copolymerizing three specified types of monomers.
CONSTITUTION: A monomer of formulaIobtd. from halogenomethylstyrene and imidazole (deriv.) (wherein A and B are selected from C1W17 alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, pyridyl and nitro) and one or both monomers of formulas II and/or III[wherein L, M and N are selected from H and methyl; X is selected from formula IV (R1 and R2 are selected from C1W5 hydrocarbon groups), -SO-, -CO-, etc.; Y is selected from formula V (R6 and R7 are selected from C1W5 hydrocarbon groups), etc.]are copolymerized in an inert liq. (e.g. n-pentane) in the presence of a polymn. initiator (e.g. benzoyl peroxide) at 20W120°C to give a basic cross-linked copolymer composed of repeating structural units of formulas VI and VII and/or VIII.
