Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve efficient facsimile communication by counting the number of bits of a picture signal, line by line, by substituting a line where an error is detected by a last line, and making a request to resend information on an original when the number of error lines exceeds a prescribed value. CONSTITUTION:A picture signal of every line obtained by processing a facsimile FX encoded signal by demodulation 2 and decoding 3 is supplied to a memory circuit 4 and a picture-signal detecting circuit 7. The circuit 7 discriminate the occurrence of an error by detecting whether the number of bits of each line is proper or not, and generates a pulse (a) for an error line or a pulse (b) for a normal line. When the pulse (b) is generated, the picture signal is inputted to two line memories of the circuit 4, and a picture signal read by alternating writing and reading is inputted to a recorder 6. When the pulse (a) is generated, a picture signal one line before the error line is read and inputted to the recorder, and counting circuit 8 and 9 count the pulse (a). The circuit 8 counts the number of succeeding error lines, and the circuit 9 counts the total number of error lines in a received picture and when the both go up to prescribed values, the resending of information on an original is requested.
