Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable a discharge route to be voluntarily selected through simple constitution by providing a block plate at an end of a partition wall which divides the discharge route into a plural number of parts. CONSTITUTION:A piece of a rectangular partition wall 2, the ends of which are held with holders 3, is provided within a glass tube 1 which is a component of a fluorescent lamp in such a manner that the section of the tube 1 is almost divided into halves with the partition wall 2. The partition wall 2 extends from the vicinity of an electrode 4 to the vicinity of an electrode 5, and two discharge routes (a) and (b) are formed by means of the wall 2. The inner wall of the tube 1 and the surface of the wall 2 which face the discharge route (a), as well as those which face the discharge route (b) are coated with phosphors 6 and 7, which determine the nature of light irradiated outward from the tube 1. A block plate 8, which determines the discharge route, is provided, at least, at an end of the wall 2 so that it rotates to an axis 9 owing to its own weight.
