Abstract

PURPOSE:To control the air fuel ratio of an engine having a catalytic converter for exhaust gas, depending on the concentration of carbon monoxide. CONSTITUTION:The concentration of carbon monoxide in exhaust gas treated with a catalyst 5 is found out by a detector 7 attached to an exhaust pipe 6. A control valve 8 in a pipe 1 is automatically regulated by a proportional controller 9 to control the air fuel ratio of an engine to set the foundout concentration at 10-500ppm. This results in restricting nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbon and ammonia below safe concentrations.
