Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a taper part at a single stroke in order to shorten the working hour, by giving a temperature gradient in the longitudinal direction to a prescribed metallic blank material in order to form a taper longitudinally changing diameter of the blank material correspondingly to the temperature gradient.
CONSTITUTION: Both ends of a prescribed round bar 1 are chucked by chucks 2, 2 respectively; a high-frequency electric current, controlled so as to give a prescribed longitudinal temperature gradient to the round bar 1, is supplied to each of coils C1WCn; hereby, the round bar 1 is heated by a high-frequency induction heating. The chucks 2, 2 are then moved respectively in the arrowed direction A for stretching the round bar 1 in the direction to cause an elongation; the elongation in every position differs from each other even though the same tension is being applied to every position of round bar 1, so that a taper 1a is formed. Accordingly, if a tension is applied to a blank material under a condition that a temperature distribution is given to the blank material, the elongation at every part of the blank material differs from each other; as a result, a taper material 1' provided with a taper 1a is obtained.
