Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the conversion of heavy petroleum in the fluidized bed catalytic cracking, by feeding catalytic particles flowing through a fluidized catalytic cracking apparatus partially to a high gradient magnetic separator, and removing the metal in the heavy oil as magnetized catalytic particles.
CONSTITUTION: Catalytic cracking particles, having a particle diameter of 5W 200μ, and flowing through a fluidized catalytic cracking apparatus having the respective zones of reaction, separation and stripping are partially taken out and fed to a high gradient magnetic separator containing net-like packings, having a wire diameter of 10W1,000μ and a size of 3W80 mesh, and made of a ferromagnetic material placed on top of each other in a space of a high magnetic field by a transferring gas, e.g. air, at a particle concentration of 0.01W500g/l and a transferring fluid speed of 0.01W100m/sec. The catalytic particles are separated into a magnetized catalytic particles magnetized by the deposition of a metal, e.g. nickel, contained in a heavy petroleum and unmagnetized catalytic particles, which are then returned to the cracking apparatus. The fluidized bed catalytic cracking of the heavy oil is carried out while reusing the returned catalytic particles.
