Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the dispersing properties, the surface properties, the wear resistance, the S/N, the sensitivity, etc., by processing the ferromagnetic powder with a titanium coupling agent. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic coating material having the excellent dispersing properties and preserving properties is obtained by kneading at least a kind of the compounds shown by equations[I]-[IV], the magnetic powder, a binder and a solvent, respectively. In these equations, R1 and R2 are hydrocarbon groups for substitution and unsubstitution respectively, R2 is a bivalent organic group, and n is an integer of 0 or 1-3. Such magnetic coating material is coated on a supporter in the forme of a layer and then dried up. Thus a magnetic recording medium is obtained with excellent surface properties and high wear resistance. These compounds are used preferably in a range of 0.5-8pts.wt. to the 100pts.wt. ordinary magnetic powder.
