Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify assembly process of cross members by forming the cross member to be divided into the body and both ends and welding previously the both ends to front pillar portions to weld the body to the both ends in dash panel assembly. CONSTITUTION:A cross member 4 is formed to be divided into three portions, i.e. a cross member body 10, left and right ends 11 disposed at both left and right sides of the cross member body 10. The cross member body 10 is spot welded to an upright portion 3 at the rear side of a dash panel 2 to form a closed section and provide previousy a subassembly of the dash panel. Both left and right ends 11 of the cross member are spot welded to a front pillar panel 7a to provide a subassembly of a pillar 7. A panel 2 provided with the cross member body 10 is inserted between the subassembled pillars to which is welded a predetermined flange to finish a cowl box portion.
