Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce tension of a core wire of an optical cable, and to lengthen its life, by providing a tension reducing cylinder whose outside diameter is small, on a part of the circumferential surface. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber core wire 10 is supplied by supply devices 13, 14, 15 and 16, and a tensile strength wire rod 8 is supplied by a supply device 17. They get into a tension reducing device 28 through guide rollers 18-27. On a part of a cylinder 42 of this tension reducing device 28, a part 41 whose outside diameter is small is provided, and when the tensile strength wire rod 8 is made to pass through said part and the core wire 10 is made to pass through other part, the core wire 10 is fed faster than the tensile strength wire rod 8, and tension of the core wire 10 is reduced. Subsequently, they are twisted together with a spacer 34 and a tape 35 through guide rollers 29, 30, and are wound by a winding device 36. In this way, it is possible to manufacture an optical cable 38 having a long life, whose tension of core wire has been reduced.
