Abstract

PURPOSE: To lessen the forced swirl in an engine having a fuel valve in the circumference of a cylinder cover so as to reduce the burnout of the piston crown, by providing two jet holes having a jet angle of a cone angle.
CONSTITUTION: The spherical jet port N' is provided with an oblique angle to a cylinder axis. The jet angle θ of the jet holes n' that is obtained by connecting points (a1, a2) on the outer circumferential surface of the sphere with the center of the sphere is defined as the cone angle. The cone angle is 1/2 of the angle between the jet hole center line and an plane perpendicular to the cylinder axis. The jet direction of the jet hole n' in the undersurface is directed toward the center of the piston crown. The jet stream is jetted evenly into the combustion chamber, so that the burnout of the cylinder cover, the exhaust valve, the piston crown, etc. can be reduced.
