Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound in high yield in high reaction rate, by using a dialkylbenzene having a boiling point in a specific range as a reaction solvent, reacting silicon with an alkyl alcohol in the presence of a copper type catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: Using a dialkylbenzene (e.g., diundecylbenzene) having a boiling point in a range of 300W480°C as a reaction solvent, silicon, preferably obtained by pulverizing metal silicon having a purity of ≥80% into fine powder with an average particle size of ≤100μ, is reacted with an alkyl alcohol having 1W5C alkyl group in the presence of a catalyst of metal copper or copper compound at 220W260°C to give an alkoxysilane. The amount of the catalyst used is 0.0001W 0.5mol based on 1mol metal silicon and the amount of the solvent used is 1mlW 10l based on 1g metal silicon.
