Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to measure shift of convergence accurately, by deflecting electron beam radiated on fluorescent layer of an in-line type color picture tube minutely longitudinally or laterally, and measuring the peak points through the use of a luminance detector. CONSTITUTION:First, a color picture tube 30 is made to non-deflection state and tri-color fluorescent substance at the center of a panel 31 is illuminated with each electron beam. A luminance detector 36 consisting of a slit plate 32 and a photo multiplier 34 is aligned on the fluorescent substance layer to be measured. Next, a deflection voltage of triangle waveform horizontally or vertically is given to a deflection yoke 37 from a minute deflector 38 and electric signals from the deflector 38 and the photo multiplier 34 are inputted to X and Y axes, allowing to obtain a luminance distribution waveform 18 as to blue color. When a luminance detector 36 is shifted by a pitch of the fluorescent substance for the similar operation, allowing to obtain green and red luminance distribution waveforms 19 and 20. Unskillful person can measure the shift of convergence accurately and simply by reading the difference among the peak points PB, PG and PR.
