Abstract

PURPOSE: Electricity is applied to electrodes, coils and electric heaters to form a plasma column by discharge and simultaneously a mixture of light oil with hydrogen is fed into the unit to reform light oil into gasoline for an inner-combustion engine easily.
CONSTITUTION: Electricity, preferably of about 1,500V AC, is applied to the electrodes of which at least one is composed of nickel sulfide molecular monolayer 1, coils 3 and electric heater 4 to form discharge plasma. At the same time, a mixture of light oil with hydrogen is fed from the nozzle 6 to effect the fission of C-C bonds in the light oil and add hydrogen atoms to the places where carbon bonds are cleaved, whereby the reformation is conducted. Preferably, the discharge length is set to about 150mm and the feed rate of the light oil and hydrogen are adjusted to about 2l/min and about 2cc/min respectively. This unit is put in the path for feeding the fuel to a gasoline inner combustion engine in a car or the like. A battery may be used as a power source.
