Abstract
PURPOSE: To replace air in a sealed space by carbonic acid gas and to inhibit an explosion accident, by feeding the carbonic acid gas into the sealed space at the upper portion of a fermenting vat at the beginning of charging organic waste materials into a fermenting vat.
CONSTITUTION: At the beginning of charging organic waste materials through a charge opening 2 into a fermenting vat 1, carbonic acid gas is fed through a gas pipe 6. As a result, the lower layer part of a sealed space 4 is kept in a carbonic acid gas atmosphere, and the upper layer part is kept in an air atmosphere, owing to their specific gravities. Thereafter, the gas pipe 6 is opened to repeat several times discharge of the air in the upper layer part only. Consequently, the atmosphere in the sealed space 4 is replaced by the carbonic acid gas atmosphere. Thereafter, the gas pipe 6 is connected to a gas appliance, and a cock is opened. Consequently, the mixture of methane gas and carbonic acid gas can be fed and safely burnt.
