Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to eliminate securely a frame signal component leaking into a character signal by an automatic postal-code-number reader, etc., by the frame signal and a signal tracing the white level of the character signal and by clamping the character signal to a white-level tracing signal level by the frame signal.
CONSTITUTION: A character signal into which a frame signal component leaks is supplied to terminal 11 and then supplied to white-level tracing circuit 17 by way of transistor TR16. The output signal of circuit 17 is supplied to the emitter of TR22 in clamping circuit 21 via TR19. The frame signal extracted by frame signal extracting circuit 20 is supplied to the base of TR22 and only when the frame signal is input, TR22 turns on, so that the collector and emitter will be equal in electric potential. Since the character signal is supplied to the collector of TR22 via TR12, the character signal is clamped to the output signal level of circuit 17. Therefore, the frame signal component leaking into the character signal is removed and the character signal that includes no frame signal component can be obtained from output terminal 15.
