Abstract

PURPOSE: To carry out stable operation by a method wherein temp. change of supplied sea water at an inlet of an electrodialysis tank is monitored to control current passed to said electrodialysis tank, and, thereby, concn. polarization phenomenon is prevented.
CONSTITUTION: In operating the electrodialysis tank formed by clamping two or more stacks 4 comprising arranging plural number of cation exchange resin membranes and anion exchange resin membranes mutually in series through a liquid supply frame 2, when a temp. of supplied sea water at the inlet of the electrodialysis tank is changed ±3°C or more within 30min., current passed to the electrodialysis tank is rapidly stopped. Subsequently, after the temp. of sea water is stabilized in a range of ±1°C within 30min. after stopping, current is passed again. Preferably, current is stopped as well as regular pressure of a diluting chamber and a concentrating chamber is released to atmospheric pressure and, thereafter, current is passed again as well as regular pressurizing is carried out. Moreover, it is preferable to pass current again as well as to stop the supply of sea water and a conc. liquid.
