Abstract
PURPOSE: An injurious insect repellent, capable of exhibiting improved repellent effects on injurious insects, e.g. a cockroach and clothes moth, and preventing the invasion of the injurious insects, and containing a specific thiocyanate compound, e.g. methoxyethyl thiocyanate, as an active constituent.
CONSTITUTION: An injurious insect repellent containing a thiocyanate compound expressed by the formula (m is 0 or an integer 1W5; n is an integer 1W3), e.g. methoxyethyl thiocyanate or ethylene glycol methyl thiocyanoethyl ether, as an active constituent. The compound of the formula may be directly applied to an area requiring the insect repellency, however, preferably in the form of a solution or solid suitable for the area and the method of application usually with a suitable carrier or another additive. The repellent is applied to the porch, kitchen or dining room in a home or a specific area, e.g. a barn or agricultural and horticultural hothouse, a cabinet or food container or the human body, animal body or plant body. 5W 40wt% of the active constitutent is enough in the form of a solution.
