Abstract
PURPOSE: To recycle a mixed soln. of a complexing agent and a complexing agent accepting agent as a complexing agent soln. for development or an accepting agent soln. by fractionating the mixed soln. flowing out of a development process into two kinds of separated solns. each having a specified separation factor.
CONSTITUTION: When rare earth elements are separated by displacement development with a complexing agent, a complexing agent accepting agent and an ion exchange resin, a mixed soln. of the agent flowing out of the separation process is fractionated into a partial separated soln. having 0.02W0.98, especially 0.25W0.95 separation factor and a partial separated soln. having 1.2W5, especially 1.05W4 separation factor, and it is recycled to the separation process as a complexing agent soln. for developing rare earth element adsorption bands or an accepting agent soln. The soln. having ≥1 separation factor and the soln. having ≥1 separation factor are pH adjusted and used in a development tower as the accepting agent soln. and the complexing agent soln., respectively.
