Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve high-speed straight-driving performance and turning performance by a constitution wherein the reference lines of an acute-angle slant groove and a lateral groove joining to the former gather at a point where the distance along the surface from a tread center to a tread end is divided nearly equally. CONSTITUTION:A groove 5 on the periphery of a center extends in zigzags along the equator of the tire, dividing a tread T equally into right and left lateral zones TL and TR. The slant groove 6 extends at an acute angle to the groove 5 against a driving force acting at the time of running of the tire, with the tilt alpha of the reference line J-J to the equator O-O of the tire being set at about 30-80 deg.. To the groove 6 is joined the lateral groove 7, which extends in the direction of the width of the tread T and opens at the tread end e. The reference lines J-J and K-K gather at the point P where the distance along the surface from the tread center to the tread end e is divided nearly equally.
