Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce an oil-in-water type emulsion which is stable even under severe conditions with good reproducibility by using the water phase component and oil phase component which are respectively dissolved with a nonionic surfactant, growing these to the liquid crystal phase and adding the water phase component to the liquid crystal phase.
CONSTITUTION: An oil phase component or water-phase component is added to the water phase continuous phase made by dissolving a nonionic surfactant in the water phase component consisting of water or water and a water-soluble solvent, or the oil phase continuous phase made by dissolving the nonionic surfactant in the oil phase component, whereby the liquid crystal phase is formed. Thence, if water or water soluble solvent or both of these are added to this liquid crystal phase, the oil separates from the liquid crystal, and produces a cloudy gel emulsion of high viscosity. If water is further added to this gel emulsion, the viscosity lowers continuously, whereby the stable oil-in-water type emulsion is obtained.
