Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a membrane for mixed fluid separation which has good adhesiveness between an extra thin membrane and a substrate, of which the extra thin membrane is difficult to peel from the substrate and which has good durability and separability.
CONSTITUTION: An extra thin membrane of polyolefin or diene polymer and a porous substrate are heat-treated at 60W300°C in an atmosphere for the time when the polymers forming the extra thin membrane and the substrate do not melt. The extra thin membrane is of polymethyl pentene, polymethyl hexene, polybutadiene or polyisoprene, and is 0.005W1.0μ in thickness. For example, a porous film or ultrafiltration membrane is suitable for the porous substrate. The extra thin membrane is placed on the substrate to make a composite membrane. Thereby, the membrane for separation of mixed fluids, particularly, mixed gases, of good separating selectivity is obtained.
