Abstract

PURPOSE:To crush the rubber of the used tire into very fine particles thereby separating the rubber from the cord fibers while at the same time preventing the generation of dust and a noise, by jetting highly pressurized water at a prescribed pressure from a nozzle against the used tire so as to crush the rubber thereof. CONSTITUTION:The highly pressurized water 9 at a pressure of more than 250kg/ cm<2> is jetted from the nozzle 2 of a highly pressurized water jetting gun 1 against the used tire 8 rotating at a low speed to cause the part of the used tire 8 struck by the pressurized water 9 to be crushed. The inner diameter of the nozzle 2 is between 1 and 2mm.. The crushed rubber 6 and fine pieces 7 of the cord fibers are scattered with the water, fall onto a floor 10 and flow into a separating tank so that they can be separated due to the difference of their gravities.
