Abstract

PURPOSE: To mold an investment mold having strength for precision casting by filling refractory slurry into the hollow part after initial coating on an investment casting pattern, and repeating the coating and carrying out pattern extinction and firing.
CONSTITUTION: An investment casting pattern 1 applied with initial coating 8 is placed on a base 11, and the slurry 9 prepared by adding a binder such as silica sol alcohol soln. to refractory material particles consisting of zirconia and alumina or the like is injected through a suction port 6. While vibrations are being given to the pattern 1, the slurry 9 is filled in the hollow part. After the injected slurry 9 has gelled and solidifed, the coating is repeated by a conventional method, whereby a mold is made. This is dipped in water to allow the investment casting pattern 1 to elute, thence the mold is fired to make a ceramic shell mold. A casting of good dimensional accuracy and casting surface is obtained by using this mold. In addition, the refractory material filled in the central part has good collapsing property and is easily removable.
