Abstract

PURPOSE: To permit the regulation and control of paint film thickness at all time and continuously by regulating the amount of paint by detecting the moving speed of a plunger for feeding the paint under pressure.
CONSTITUTION: Light from a light emitter 36 is alternately interrupted by a slit plate 34 when the slit plate 34 moves with the reciprocal movement of a plunger 22, and an electric signal corresponding to the moving amount and speed of the plunger 22 is detected from a light receiver 38. The counter 42 counts the number of detected signals within a given period of time and outputs it to a speed controller. A speed controller compares set signal from a speed setter 64 including a regulator 62 with the output of a counter 42 and then, according to a difference between both, outputs a control signal to variably control the moving speed of the plunger 22 of the plunger pump 12. The regulator 62 compares the detected signal of the speed detector with the set signal of the speed setter 64, supplies an output difference between both to a regulating valve 30 as an air pressure regulating signal, thereby performing proportional feedback control.
