Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the shelf stability of an image and a latent image by forming a specified ethylene-vinyl ester copolymer layer on the image forming layer side of a paper support for a photographic material to lower the oxygen permeability of the material and make the material waterproof and effective in wide temp. and humidity ranges. CONSTITUTION:A 0.5-100mum thick oxygen shielding layer is formed on one side of a paper support having a polyolefin layer on the other side, and on the oxygen shielding layer an image forming layer is formed. The oxygen shielding layer is made of ethylene-vinyl ester copolymer contg. 20-80mol% ethylene and 80- 20mol% vinyl alcohol. Thus, a change in photographic sensitivity, photographic density or gradation with the passage of time can be reduced. The change is caused by the oxidation of a compound contained in the photographic material. In addition, the discoloration and fading of color and black-and-white photographic images during storage, especially deterioration due to light can be reduced remarkably.
