Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove dust through a simple construction and prevent corrosion due to the clogging of an inlet pipe, by providing an upstream and a downstream nets which are located in a part of the inlet pipe and inclined at prescribed angles and whole mesh is smaller than the diameter of the cooling tube of a steam condenser.
CONSTITUTION: When sea water for cooling a steam condenser 5 is continuously introduced into an inlet pipe 8, garbage such as shells or seaweed caught by the first and the second nets 10, 11 disposed to the inlet pipe adheres due to the flow of the sea water so that the nets are clogged. At that time, a pressure difference is caused between the upstream and the downstream sides of the nets 10, 11 and a differential pressure oscillator 12 acts to temporarily stop the flow of the cooling water. As a result, the garbage is precipitated to the bottom of the inside of the inlet pipe. After that, a small quantity of cooling water is caused to flow to collect the garbage to the upstream side of the second net, namely, to the vicinity of a blowout valve 14. The valve 14 is then opened to discharge the garbage together with the cooling water out of the inlet pipe.
