Abstract
PURPOSE: The titled composition, having improved low-temperature impact resistance, and suitable for a food container, and prepared by incorporating a conjugated diene olefinic copolymer with a few 1,2-vinyl bonds having a vinyl-substituted aromatic compound at a specific ratio in a thermoplastic resin.
CONSTITUTION: A thermoplastic resin, preferably polystyrene polymer, is incorporated with a copolymer having a molecular weight of 1,000W1,000,000, and obtained by feeding and copolymerizing a mixture of a conjugated diolefin, preferably 1,3-butadiene, with a vinyl-substituted aromatic compound, preferably styrene, in the presence of an organolithium compound, preferably n-butyl lithium, as a catalyst in an inert hydrocarbon solvent containing substantially no polar compound at a weight ratio between the diolefin and the aromatic compound of 97:3W10:90 at 40W180°C continuously. In the copolymer, 25W75wt% the vinyl -substituted aromatic compound is present as a block homopolymer segment, and the content of the 1,2-vinyl bond is 15% or less.
