Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a moisture exchanger which is light in weight, does not cause swelling and deformation owing to moisture absorption, etc., and has superior heat resistance and noncombustibility by using papers such as reclaimed corrugated board as a base material and making this noncombustible through carbonization and impregnating said material with a moisture absorbing agent.
CONSTITUTION: While an adhesive agent (e.g.; acrylic coating, water glass) is being coated over the entire surface or on part of single faced corrugated board 3, it is wound or stacked to a desired shape. Next, the thus formed body is dried at 80W 150°C temperatures to allow the adhesive agent to set, after which it is dipped in a soln. prepd. by dissolving CaCl2 and/or H3BO3 in an org. solvent such as methanol, whereby it is impregnated with these, thence the solvent is allowed to evaporate. Following to this, the formed body having been evaporated of the solvent is subjected to carbonization in a nonoxidative atmosphere at 200W500°C temperatures. Next, the formed body after the carbonization is dipped in an aqueous soln. of water glass etc. to allow the silicate of calcium silicate etc. formed to deposit in the fiber base, after which it is dried by hot wind. Next, it is impregnated with an aqueous soln. of a moisture absorbing agent such as LiCl, and is dried, whereby the intended moisture exchanger 4 is manufactured.
