Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a grid with good corrosion resistance by subjecting a sheet made of a Pb-Ca-Sn system alloy which is added with a given amount of Ce to an expansion working, and thereby preventing any cracks and local corrosion of the grid in the vicinity of the intersection point of the sash bar. CONSTITUTION:A Pb-Ca-Sn alloy which has a calcium content of 0.02-0.15% and a tin content of 0.05-1.5%, is added with 0.02-0.15% of Ce to make a molten bath. For example, the end of a cooled metal roll is immersed in the molten bath, before the entire roll is rotated to be immersed in the molten bath. The former alloy is solidified and attached to the surface of the roll, thus a sheet made of a Pb-Ca-Sn- Ce alloy being prepared. Following that, slits are made in the sheet by means of a rotary cutter, the sheet with slits undergoes an expansion working, and the expanded sheet is punched into a grid.
