Abstract

PURPOSE: To realize a measurement of load for the whole bearing, by arranging a number of force pickups to the bearing of an automobile engine or the like in the direction of the shaft circumference and then detecting the each load to be supplied to these pickups.
CONSTITUTION: The crank shaft 16 is supported by a number of metallic pieces 24 plus the force pickups 18 via the bearing meral 23. The shaft load in the radial direction which affects the bearing 15 through the shaft 16 is all applied to the pickups 18 through the pieces 24. Then a difference of potential is caused between the electrodes 20 and 20 for each pickup 18 by the deformation of the piezoelectric element 19, and delivered in the form of the shaft load. Accordingly, the whole load of the bearing is obtained by obtaining the load of each pickup 18.
