Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently correct the elliptical distortion of the tubular body, by detecting the elliptical distortion in the inner circumference of the bell-mouth of the tubular body to be corrected, being laid on the support stand, and by pressing the correcting ram while turning the correcting head in a turning angle corresponding to the detected elliptical distortion.
CONSTITUTION: The tubular body M is laid on the support stand 1, and the correcting arm 6 is moved by the cylinder unit 21 so as to insert the correcting head 7 into the bell-mouth (m) of the tubular body M. If the correcting head 7 is 180° turned, the probe 42 moves along the inner circumference D3 of the bell-mouth (m), and the elliptical distortion is detected by the turning angle gauge; at the same time, the position of the elliptical minor axis is detected by the meter relay from the variation of the angular position of the probe 42. These detected data are memorized by a suitable controller, by whose command the correcting head 7 is turned in a turning angle for bringing the correcting ram 8 into a position corresponding to the position of the elliptical minor axis; then, the correcting ram 8 presses the tubular body M and corrects the elliptical distortion.
