Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove phosphates in a liq. stably and efficiently over a long time by allowing the liq. containing phosphates to contact to a composite consisting of cement, an alkali agent and a calcium carbonate-contg. mineral followed by contact dephosphorization.
CONSTITUTION: In a method of dephosphorizing a liq. such as sewage or industiral waste water by allowing dissolvable phosphates contained in the liq. to contact to a calcium phosphate-base phosphate mineral, the liq. is allowed to previously contact to a composite consisting of cement, an alkali agent and a calcium carbonate-contg. mineral. Thus, alkalinity constituents in the liq. are converted into calcium carbonate, which crystallizes and sticks to the composite, and then the liq. is softened in a decarboxylation process. Since alkalinity constituents are removed beforehand, phosphates can be removed efficiently and stably over a long term.
