Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the accuracy of working, strength, etc., by punching a thin metal plate to make pockets opened at one end and by pressing the surfaces of the corners of the pocket portions and by bending the thin metal plate into a shape as a truncated cone and by welding the large and small diameter ends to each other.
CONSTITUTION: A retainer body 9 is bent into a shape as a truncated cone. The butted ends of the large and small diameter sections 10, 12 of the retainer body 9 are welded to each other at 11, 13 by a resistance welding method or the like. The surfaces of the corners of pillar-shaped portions 15 between pockets 4 are pressed to ensure the retention of rollers. The material 16 for retainer body 9 is a thin band metal 16', which is punched by a press to make the pockets 14 opened at one end. The T-shaped pillar portions 15 separated from each other by the pockets 14 and the small diameter sections 12 are provided side by side on the large diameter section 10 which extends continuously.
