Abstract

PURPOSE: To make effective use of the heat retained by molten slag and save energy in a hot stove operating method, by making use of the sensible heat of the high- temp. region of the molten slag for blasting to a blast furnace and utilizing the sensible heat of a low-temp. region for preheating of hot stove combustion air.
CONSTITUTION: Part of the cold wind from a cold wind supply system 8 connecting to hot stoves 4W7 is passed via valves 10b', 10c to a molten slag sensible heat exchanger 2 where it is heated up. This hot wind is then passed through a mixing chamber 12 where it is mixed with the hot wind from the hot stoves 4W7. This hot wind is supplied to a blast furnace 1. On the other hand, when the temp. of said molten slag has reached near the temp. of the cold wind, partial extraction of the cold wind is stopped and following to this, the combustion air to be supplied to the hot stoves 4W7 is passed via a blower 14, valves 16a, 16b, pipe 16, etc. to the heat exchanger 2 of a low temp. region, where it is preheated, and this preheated air is passed again through the supply system 15 and exhaust heat recovery device 18 via valves 16C, 16D and is supplied as combustion air to the hot stoves 4W7. In this way, the sensible heat of the molten slag is recovered with good efficiency at a maximum without using any exclusive blower and the like.
